What to test
Help us by trying these things in game and telling us what you see. Post what you find in #bug-reports on Discord.
Current test focus (live-20261016-0059)
Admin tools (interface command)
::interface list: three names (teleports, modes, welcome-screen) with their ids;::interface list teleshows only teleports.::interface teleportsopens the teleport window (staff variant),::interface closecloses it;::interface modesshows the mode window,::interface welcome-screenthe welcome screen (buttons close it,::interface closetoo).::interface 5or::interface bankmainopens an empty bank-main modal ("layout check only"); the close button and::interface closeboth remove it.::interface 99999and::interface nonsenseonly print a message. A non-admin gets the usual "no permission" answer.
Owner tools (GE editor and operations; the owner tests these in the phone app and the exe)
- Owner phone app > GE > Items: search "abyssal whip", set a fixed price with the authenticator code; in game open the Grand Exchange guide price of the whip within ~10 seconds: it shows the new price. "Back to weekly price" restores it.
- Owner phone app > GE > Items: search "red partyhat", press Allow with a code and set a fixed price of 5,000,000: the partyhat can now be offered; press Default and it is barred again (open offers are refunded).
- Owner phone app > GE > Items: set a limit of 5 on an item: an offer for 6 is refused in game with "The limit for this item is 5 per offer."
- Owner phone app > GE > Offers: place an offer in game, find it by the player name, Cancel it with a code: the offer disappears and the items or coins wait in the collection.
- Owner phone app > GE > Pause: new offers are refused in game ("The Grand Exchange is paused..."); Resume and they work again.
- Owner phone app > Ops: "Service status", "Staged release + version" and the two log buttons show text without secrets (needs the VPS helper installed, see tools/vps/README.md); "Back up now" adds a file in /var/backups/privateps.
- Owner phone app > Ops > Update: with a release staged, "Start countdown" (5 min) warns players in game; "Cancel update" stops it. Restart/rollback buttons: only try them when the server is empty.
Bonds, supporter and mystery boxes
- Support page: open
/support.htmllogged out (three bundles with prices, the "donations only cover the server costs" text, a "Log in to buy bonds" button) and logged in (a character picker and three PayPal buttons: 1 bond $25, 5 bonds $100, 10 bonds $180). Until the owner has PayPal keys in place the buttons stay off with "Bonds are not on sale yet". - First-purchase discount: a fresh account sees every pack at half price with the old price struck through ($12.50 / $50 / $90; a visitor who is not logged in sees "First purchase 50% off"). Buy the 5-pack: afterwards the 5-pack shows $100 but the 1-pack and 10-pack are still half price. Refund the discounted purchase in the PayPal sandbox: the discount does not come back.
- Sandbox purchase (owner and testers, PayPal test money): buy a bundle, come back to the support page and see the green message; the account page lists the purchase. In game the bonds arrive in your inventory (or bank) within a minute, or at the next login if you were offline.
- Redeem: click a bond in game: pick "1 month of supporter": the blue star appears, the welcome screen shows 30 days left and the account page too. Redeem another while supporter: days are added to the end (60 at most). A third is refused and the bond comes back; pick "5 mystery boxes" instead.
- Bonds are tradeable: trade one to another player; they can redeem it. Exactly one bond is used per redeem.
- Account page, Supporter and bonds section: days left, months banked (x / 2), the supporter character picker (once a month), bond purchases with delivery status and the PayPal payment id, mystery boxes per character.
- Refund in the PayPal sandbox before you log in: the bonds never arrive. After they arrived: the purchase shows as flagged and the owner checks it by hand.
- Mystery box window: an admin gives you boxes with
::addboxes <yourname> 3(or redeem a bond), then::mboxopens the window: tabs, "Boxes: 3", a strip of item icons with a yellow marker, a grid of possible rewards (click one: name, rarity and chance in the chat) and "Last Rewards". Press Spin Mbox: the strip slows down for about 9 seconds and stops on the reward under the marker, you get that item, the balance drops by 1 and the reward shows in Last Rewards. Close the window mid-spin: you still get the reward. The Super Mbox and Donator Box tabs say "coming soon". - Mystery box rewards: the "Possible rewards" grid shows the holiday and event rares; the five ultra rare ones (black partyhat, black h'ween mask, rainbow partyhat, inverted santa hat, black santa hat) have a gold frame and the line under the button says "ultra rare, 1 in 20 per box". Click a reward: its tier and chance per box. Win a rare: you get e.g. "Red partyhat (untradeable)": try to trade or sell it (it must refuse) and check it can be worn or used. Open many boxes (
::addboxes <you> 100): about 1 in 20 is an ultra rare and the rest are rares; there are no pets or filler items in the boxes. - Owner panel, player card: "Add supporter days" (negative takes days off) changes the web account's supporter time and the rank follows.
Discord
- Press the accept button in #rules with a fresh account: you get "✅ You accepted the rules" (only you see it), the Member role, and the counter line under the rules goes up by one; pressing again says "already accepted" and changes nothing.
/resync dry_run:true(owner): lists how many old bot messages each managed channel has and what would be reposted, changes nothing./resyncthen asks for confirmation with a button; after pressing it the old bot messages disappear (no player or staff message is touched) and #rules, #welcome, #what-to-test, #known-issues, #request-help panels, #server-status, #guides and the last 5Updates M-D-YYYYposts in #announcements appear again; run it twice, nothing is duplicated.- Posts: run
/setup, then check #rules (the accept button still works), #welcome, #request-help (two plain posts with their buttons), #known-issues, #server-status and the slash commands (/status,/rules,/whatsnew,/whattotest,/comingsoon): all plain markdown messages in the same look, no embeds. After::serverupdatethe update post in #announcements has the same look (needsbot.urlandbot.secreton the VPS); no "Server is back online" post appears, and a failed update or weekly restart shows in #alerts-and-notifications only.
Mode setup and xp modes
- Create a character in the launcher and log in: after the design screen the Mode Setup window opens (left game modes: None, Ironman, Hardcore, Ultimate, with Group and Hardcore Group greyed out; right xp modes Easy 15x, Normal 10x, Medium 5x, Hard 1x). Click cards (a yellow frame shows the choice), press Confirm: the chat says what you now play as, the window closes. Check the text fits the cards and the buttons look right (first look at the layout, tell me what to move).
- Close the window without Confirm (or log out): the next login opens it again;
::modesand talking to the Gielinor Guide open it too. ::modesafter the setup: your current modes are framed, clicking another card says the mode is permanent / staff only; a Hardcore Ironman sees Downgrade (first click asks, second click makes you an Ironman).- Xp rate per mode: train one skill (for example Woodcutting willows) in Hard and compare with Normal on another character: Hard must be exactly the OSRS rate, Normal ten times that;
::xpmode medium(admin, potato Tools > More tools > Xp mode) shows the rate in chat. - Highscores page: the new Xp mode chips filter the list; the profile and account pages show the mode badge (old Fast x2 / x5 characters now show Easy 15x).
Transport and teleports
- Wilderness obelisks (levels 13, 19, 27, 35, 44, 50): click Activate on a pillar and stand in the middle 3x3 tiles: after a few seconds you are teleported to a random obelisk with "Ancient magic teleports you somewhere in the Wilderness!". Set Destination (menu), then Teleport to Destination goes to the one you chose. A Tele Block (cast by a second player) must stop it.
- Wilderness levers: Edgeville (3090,3475) and Ardougne (2561,3311) take you to the Deserted Keep; the lever there (3153,3923) takes you back to Edgeville; the Mage Arena levers (3090,3956 / 3104,3956 / 3105,3952 and the one in the Mage Bank) link the arena and the Mage Bank. Check that you land on a walkable tile next to the lever.
- Item teleports (spawn them with the rotten potato /
::spawn): Ectophial (Empty), Chronicle (Teleport), Camulet (Rub), Mythical cape, Kharedst's memoirs (Reminisce), Drakan's medallion, Rada's blessing 3, Ardougne cloak 4, Desert amulet, Fremennik sea boots 4, Explorer's ring 4, Morytania legs 4, skill capes, Achievement diary cape, Music cape and the teleport scrolls: the inventory option and the equipment-tab option both teleport; scrolls are used up; the Ectophial is not. - Glider pilots (Grand Tree, White Wolf Mountain, Al Kharid, Karamja, Ape Atoll, Digsite): "Glider" lists the other stops; Charter on Trader Stan and his crew lists the other ports (Prifddinas included).
- Hot air balloons: "Use" on a basket or "Fly" on an assistant lists the other stops; you need the Firemaking level of the destination (20, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60) and no logs.
- Keldagrim train: "Tickets" on a conductor lists White Wolf Mountain / Ice Mountain; "Ride" on the carts there brings you back. Kourend mine carts: all 12 stops from any driver or cart.
- Boats: Fremennik ferries (Rellekka, Neitiznot, Jatizso, Miscellania), Captain Barnaby (Ardougne, Brimhaven, Rimmington), the ghost ship at Port Phasmatys, Captain Tock (Corsair Cove), Jarvald (Waterbirth Island).
- Spirit trees (Grand Exchange, Feldip Hills, ...) take you to the other trees; a spell cast inside your house takes you to its own destination; glory / dueling / games necklace work up to level 30 Wilderness and not beyond.
Server
::serverupdatenow posts the update and the what-to-test list through the Discord bot. Withreport-url/report-secretset, #announcements shows "Updates M-D-YYYY" with Server Changes / Misc/Bugfixes (long posts split in several messages) and #what-to-test is refreshed. With them empty, or the bot down, the old webhook posts appear instead and the update still runs. The Sunday weekly restart uses the same path.
Still to verify
- [Shops and Grand Exchange] Shop buying: open any shop (for example the cape seller at 3237,3621, or any general store) and click Buy 1 / 5 / 10 / 50 on an item: the item arrives and the coins leave (before, nothing happened at all). Stock that is sold out says so; a full backpack says so.
- [Shops and Grand Exchange] Grand Exchange: all 8 offer slots are usable for everybody (no more greyed-out slots 4-8): start offers in slots 4 to 8 and check they work.
- [Shops and Grand Exchange] Grand Exchange: the discontinued rares (partyhats, Santa hats, Halloween masks, pumpkin, Easter ring, ...) cannot be offered or bought there (
GeExclusions.ktis the list; Green santa hat, Holly wreath and Christmas scythe do not exist in this cache). The item search of the client still shows them; picking one gives "can't be traded". - [Admin tools] Rotten carrot: left-click it for the full teleport list (raids, bosses, places, hub, starter island, custom tiles); right-click for the Raids, Bosses, Places and Custom submenus. Check a few destinations land somewhere sensible (the boss tiles are the least certain) and that
::ct 3 lumbridgefollowed by the "Named custom list" entry works. - [Admin tools] Rotten potato layout: Me, Toggles, Travel and Tools open submenus; "More toggles" / "More tools" open a list; Bots (plain click) opens the bot list. If the right-click labels still show the old names after a login, restart the client once so it refreshes its cache.
- [Admin tools]
::xpmode easy(admin, potato Tools > More tools > Xp mode): the chat shows the new mode and the effective rate; gain some xp and check it matches the mode; log out and in, it stays; another character of your account is unchanged. - [Admin tools]
::instawin(admin, potato Tools > Insta-win) wins the challenge you are in: start a Pest Control game, a Wintertodt or Tempoross round, a Fight Cave, the Colosseum, a Nightmare Zone dream or a Mahogany Homes contract (or fight a boss in its instance), run it, and check you get the normal reward (points, chest, drops, xp). Outside a challenge it says "You are not in a challenge." - [Admin tools]
::teleto <player>as a moderator (needs a second player): you land next to them and get the 5 minute protection message; ask the second player to try to attack you (refused) and a monster to hit you (nothing happens); you get a "minutes left" message every minute and one when it ends; attack something yourself and the protection ends at once. As an admin there is no timer. - [Admin tools] Admins and owners cannot die: take damage far above your hitpoints (for example from a boss): you stay at 1 hitpoint.
- [Admin tools] Rotten potato used on a player > Reset bank PIN: for now it only says "Bank PIN system not installed yet."; once the bank PIN system exists, set a PIN on another character, reset it from the menu, and check the player gets "Your bank PIN was reset by staff" and can set a new one.
- [Admin tools] Potato "Invisible" (Toggles > More toggles > Invisible): ask a second player to stand next to you; they should no longer see you and monsters should leave you alone; turn it off and you are back. Needs a second client to check.
- [Admin tools] Potato as multitool: carry only the potato (no axe, pickaxe, knife, ...) and chop a tree, mine a rock, fish at a spot, light a fire, fletch logs with a knife, use a hammer at an anvil: all should work; the axe and pickaxe act as the best your level allows.
- [Admin tools]
::giverangeset/::givemeleeset: the inventory is only coins, sharks, a strength potion, two prayer restores and the seven runes (plus the potato / carrot in front). - [Settings and music] [client] Thieving left click (needs the new launcher plugin jar): hover a man, a farmer, an Ardougne/Varrock guard, a knight, a hero and a H.A.M. member; the default (top) action must say Pickpocket and a left click pickpockets. Hover a thieving stall (tea, baker, silk, fur, gem, ...): the left click is Steal-from. Right-click still lists Talk-to / Attack. With an item selected ("Use X → Man") the top action must stay the "Use" one.
- [Settings and music] [server] New character defaults: create a new character and open the settings tab. NPC attack options should be on "Left-click where available", the music, sound effect and area sound sliders at 10%, and shift-click drop on (shift-click an inventory item drops it; with the bank, a shop or the trade window open it must not drop). Characters that already exist keep their settings.
- [Settings and music] [server] Music tab: click a track in the list. It should start playing at once and the mode switches to manual; the text above the list shows its name. Check that the track that plays is the one you clicked (the list order is computed on the server, not verified yet), that a locked boss/raid/minigame track says it is locked, and that the manual / area / random buttons change the mode.
- [Settings and music] [server] Brightness: drag the brightness slider in the settings tab several times; the client must not disconnect or crash and the brightness should stay after a relog.
- [Settings and music] [client] Login screen: after logging out, the login screen / main menu music is silent. Needs the new launcher plugin jar (client rebuild).
- [Minigames] Pest Control points: win a game and check the chat: 2 points per portal and 2 more for all four, times 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.5 by boat (a full win is 10 / 12 / 15); the Void Knight prices are unchanged.
- [Minigames] Wintertodt camp: the bank chest at the camp bank (and the deposit box) now open the bank; click the Pyromancers, Ignisia, Captain Kalt, the soldiers, Esther, Ish and Brew'ma and each tells how the minigame works; the three crates by the entrance give a hammer, a knife, an axe and a tinderbox, the other crates give concoctions, and sprouting roots give bruma herbs (Herblore 50: use herb on concoction, then drink). Unused roots, kindling, herbs and potions vanish when you leave the arena. The status line every 30 ticks shows energy, points and warmth. Check each click above and that roots disappear at the door.
- [Grand Exchange home] Create a new character (or
::resetplaytimeequivalent on a test account) and log in: the Gielinor Guide's welcome conversation opens by itself; the Guide stands about six tiles north-east of where you appear (3167,3471) and can be talked to again any time. Check the Ironman tutor now stands at 3182,3470, Brugsen Bursen is gone and no dwarf remains lie next to the bank booths at the west side. - [Grand Exchange home] Home teleport, the Grand Exchange jewellery teleport and the jail release now put you at 3164,3464 (south of the booths, next to where new characters appear): cast Home Teleport and check the tile with
::pos(or the position overlay); a new character also appears there, and Death's Office returns you there too. - [Launcher and new characters] Wiki button under the world map: left-click it and then click an item, NPC or object, or right-click it and choose Search Wiki: your browser must open the PrivatePS Guides page (privateps.com/guides), not the OSRS wiki; the right-click menu has no DPS entry.
- [Launcher and new characters] Create character: in the launcher press the yellow Create character card, a name window opens in the game; type a name that is taken (an existing character) and you should get "That name is already taken" without the game closing, then type a free name and press Create: you log in without typing a password.
- [Launcher and new characters] First login of a new character: after the character design screen (Confirm) a dialogue lets you choose game mode (Normal, Ironman, Hardcore Ironman, Ultimate Ironman, each with a description and an "are you sure") and xp mode (Normal, Fast x2, Fast x5); afterwards the chat says what you are, the launcher card shows the same mode, and an Ironman cannot use the Grand Exchange. Close the dialogue by walking away and talk to the Gielinor Guide: it must offer the setup again.
Known issues
No need to report these.
- Quests: almost none are playable yet.
- Many NPCs have no dialogue or only basic behaviour.
- Raids and most combat minigames are not built yet.
